Meet the CEO: Daniel Celaya
My name is Daniel Celaya, and I’m a seasoned public administration professional, U.S. Army veteran, and co-owner of a Tribal Grant Consulting business focused on empowering Tribal nations and underserved communities. I bring over 12 years of specialized experience in federal grants through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), with a strong foundation in program management, policy compliance, and strategic development. I am a proud graduate of the prestigious Presidential Management Fellowship (PMF) Program, and I hold a Master of Administration in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s in Public Agency Management from Northern Arizona University.
During my time as a high-level employee in HUD’s Office of Native American Programs (ONAP), I had the privilege of leading national training efforts, developing regulatory policy guidance, and advising both Tribal and federal leaders on complex program and legal issues. I’ve supported Tribal governments across the country on NAHASDA-funded programs, offering expertise in 2 CFR 200 compliance, grant writing, economic development, housing, procurement, and cultural preservation. My leadership style is collaborative and results-driven, shaped by my experience as a Lead Grants Management Specialist and Native American Program Specialist. I’ve managed teams, led intergovernmental initiatives, and helped create practical, culturally informed solutions that make a real impact.
But beyond all the professional titles and accomplishments, what matters most to me is my family. I’m a proud husband and father to two amazing children, ages 18 and 15. We share our home with our loyal dog Benjiman and our laid-back Sulcata tortoise, Grutus. My family means everything to me. Whether we’re on a vacation together or just enjoying time at home, there’s nothing more important than being present with them. I treasure every moment we spend together laughing, exploring, and supporting each other.
Outside of work, I love to play golf and simply be with my family—they’re my grounding force and the reason I strive to serve others with integrity and purpose. My passion for community service, combined with my leadership experience and deep understanding of Tribal governance, continues to drive me into making a meaningful difference through the work I do every day.
